Hello from Charlotte, NC

Hi,

My name is Jim. I'm new to drones just bought my Mavic Air 2. Really enjoying it. Any suggestions on good places to practice flying and working on my photography would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the forum from a fellow NC'er.

You'll want to research and take the TRUST exam for drones

Also you need to register it with the FAA on the Hobby side unless you're going to get your Part 107 RPIC.

Here are some things to help you get started with your Mavic Air 2:
  • The current Mavic Air 2 manual can be downloaded here (it doesn't come in the box). Other important documents can be found on the Mavic Air 2 downloads page.

  • Check out this getting started guide for some tips not found in the Mavic Air 2 manual.

  • This video covers all the basics of the Mavic Air 2.

  • Your drone batteries will last longer if you use and maintain them like this.

  • Practice flying outdoors in a wide open location that's free of all obstacles. Don't attempt to fly inside your house or in other confined locations.

  • The drone records flight data each time you fly. You can decrypt and view those flight logs with these tools.

  • Check out MavicHelp.com for commonly used accessories you might need.

Hi Jim, welcome. I leave in Concord and spend alot of time flying in my yard. I have not explored other areas around Cabarrus and Mecklenburg County.

Hi, I appreciate you reaching out. Have you been up in the Banner Elk area and flown? My wife and I are heading up there for our anniversary wanted to see if I could find some neat places to fly and video.
Banner Elk is great place to fly. Just check your app and B4Ufly app to ensure you are not flying in a restricted airspace. There is a small air strip and college in banner elk you need to pay close attention to. Also, east of banner elk, approx 20 miles is restricted air space National park). Safe flying!
