Greetings from Italy! I decided to join this family together with my father, for his birthday I would like to buy him a Mavic mini. Unfortunately I still don't know if his phone (a huawei p9 lite) is compatible with the app, for this reason I decided to register on the forum and look around

CIAO e bienvenuto! As suggested before, you might want to look into flying the MM with a tablet instead of a smartphone. Samsung has a variety of products that support the DJI Fly app. Just need to make sure it has enough RAM and supports 64 bit, instead of 32. Then you should be good to go....

I also have the P9lite but I run in all kinds of issues. I tried Airplane Mode, USB debugging etc but either the Fly App bugs or the RC does not connect to the phone properly.
Did you had to apply specific settings to make your phone work?

Here is some advice for your father, from Hauptmann in Texas, USA.

You'll find that the Mini almost flies itself. This can lead to overconfidence. Try to be conservative at first, and expand your horizons gradually. The Mini, at only 249 grams, doesn't handle wind as well as the heavier drones do. On windy days it's best to fly the Mini so that you have a tail wind on the way back.

Read your manual (links below), and practice using "Find My Drone". Chances are you'll crash and perhaps lose your drone. Don't wait 'til that happens to try to learn under less than ideal conditions. We have over 100,000 members from around the world who will help you learn your new hobby!
