Hiya. I'm new to drones but used to build and fly model aircraft, airships, and rockets back in the olden days.
After watching generation after generation of drones come on the scene, astonish everyone, lose luster, grow old, and get replaced, the Mavic 3 finally convinced me to take the plunge. Does it have weaknesses? Sure. Everything does. As Voltaire wrote*, "the perfect is the enemy of the good". If I wait for the perfect device, I'll be groundstuck for life.
It's not a beginner's aircraft, I know. My experience with musical instruments and electronic goods has shown that starting with a low-priced "bargain" generally results in frustration and waste, so might as well begin somewhere in the mid-range and have a device that won't become a dust-collecting shelf anchor.
I'm looking forward to taking photos and video, of course, but also analyzing and visualizing flight data. It would be interesting to write software to plot flights on Google Maps, OpenStreetMap, or something similar.
