I have tried to research this on the forum but not great results so I am posting this question.

What do members use for safest payments? My options, in order of preference are this forum(Pal Pay, Zelle), e-bay, and Pay Pal. Of course both e-Bay and Pay Pal take a disproportionate commission but payment is assured in advance (money is seen in my account) before I ship.
I have a long history of successful sales of items ovef many years on eBay. No bad e-bay experiences. I am not so familiar with Pal Pay.

So, my question is, what do you all advise when you want to sell?

Facebook in-person cash only; eBay if I'm unable to sell on FB but eBay will usually put a hold on money for a few days upto a month; eBay always favors the buyer on transactions but has helped me sell expensive electronics or other stuff due to its huge reach. I use Paypal a lot however only for purchases.

I accept only Paypal, I would never take a Hell Zelle payment.

Two questions for you:

1.Do you know the E-Bay commission rate.? I think it is about 10% but not sure.
2. I get a Pay Pal scamming bill at least once a day and often more, billing me for stuff I never ordered. I send a phishing e-mail to Pay Pay and get acknowledgement immediatley. Do you know the Pay Pay commission rate on purchases sold?

15% commission to eBay. Apart from one item I had to accept back and pay return shipping $18 (because the stupid buyer could not replace two AA cells which dislodged during transit). I sold everything to super happy buyers because of my low selling prices. I'm not in the selling business, only recently started disposing of brand new or like new stuff I have no need for. A lot of expensive, extremely heavy stuff I have to credit FB for, no commission, no nothing.
No idea what Paypal charges on items sold. I love Paypal in the sense they give free 6 months credit, why pay all down if you get six months free credit, I have a credit score of 850, perhaps that helps too.

Update
Ebay Final Value Fees (The Main "Commission")

  • Standard Rate: 13.6% on the total sale amount (item price + shipping + tax) up to $7,500 per item, then 2.35% on the portion over $7,500.
  • Per-Order Fee: An additional $0.30 for orders $10 or less, and $0.40 for orders over $10.
  • Category Variations: Rates differ; for example, sneakers over $150 have an 8% fee, while books & magazines can be 15.3%.

I'm not sure what they charge because it varies by amount so for me, small amounts are negligible and only affect me when you get up into the bigger sales. You can look up the calculations right before you list your product and adjust your price accordingly but for me, I'm usually selling something that I have no use for which means any amount makes it profitable. As mentioned, if you just go with the 15% flat rate you should be covered. I never ask buyers to cover my fees whether it's Ebay, PayPal, or Shipping....that's just petty and it confuses people who can't do the math and there are buyers (like me) who won't even look twice at a listing from a seller who can't handle his own business. Just add everything into the price....there's one price OTD.

Thanks for sticking with this conversation. I like your approach to selling. I have been on eBay for 15 or more years with 100% rating. I just listed my Mavic 4 Pro Fly More with RC 2 plus full set of Freewell ND filters on E Bay. I'm asking $1000 because it is like a brand new drone. I guess I should list it here too. As you can see from my age of 87, I really need to get rid of stuff so my wife, who is not computer-philac (as opposed to phobic) wont have as much trouble selling my stuff.
I have an Osmo action 5 Pro, Osmo Action 6 so I have to dump the 5 Pro. Same with the Osmo Pocket 3 and the Osmo OM6 gimbal. I get carried away.
I probably should not have requested shipping on my eBay ad, but I can change that.

His post says Mavic Mini 4 Pro so I assume it's the Mini 4 Pro.

You'll want to make sure your Ebay listing is clear else you might have a disgruntled or disingenuous seller you don't want to deal with claiming not as described. It's the Mini 4 Pro, please drop the Mavic designation since it is no longer applicable. We know what you mean but the general public might not understand.
