Today I learnt a valuable lesson and I thought that I’d share it.

To improve your video quality, simply buy a lens cloth and wipe your lens clean every so often. I wiped my lens clean today, having never done it before (after 40-50 hours of flying) and the dust and salt that came off was astounding. My footage afterwards was noticeably better.

I’m sure that some of you are already doing this. However for the pilots like me, who haven’t been cleaning your lens occasionally, take the 10 secs and you’ll be amazed at the immediate improvement.

Yes, I tend to fly near and over water the majority of the time, and I always wipe off the lens prior. Also, let that salt residue communicate something to you. It is also getting other places besides on the camera lens. As such, be sure to store your copter in a dry, low humidity environment when not in use. My stays in my garage where I run a dehumidifier set to 50%. Even a small amount of internal corrosion can become a serious issue, and it should be avoided as much as practically possible.
