iPhone storage question

Help a newbie here with understanding the storage on a iPhone 6 S. Bought the phone new but the downside is it only has 32 gb capacity. What I can't understand is the difference between the stated storage size under about is 32gb and 22.24 available, but under the Phone storage tab it reads 9.7gb used and 32 capacity. Which ref is correct?

Sorry, I'm not understanding your question - aren't both the same just stated different ways? 32GB total capacity, 22.24 GB available and 9.7GB used.

Well apps take up space for one thing and as posted the 32
would read 64 if your phone had 64 gb .

You have 32gb in total but the phone OS / software is taking up 9.7 gb of that leaving you with the 22.4 available for you to use.

Sorry guys stupid question, I simply misread my own numbers here I was thinking it said 22.24 gb used. Sitting here red faced on that one. My apologies for your time. I was setting up and downloading siri and wasn't sure how much space that app would use, that's how I traveled down that road. Funny my wife just warning me about previewing my questions before posting and then I did that. On the plus side of this I can see now how outside distractions can affect what you're doing, that's right I'm blaming my wife, lol.
