Is it possible to put custom lenses on the MA2?

Basically, I figured since the gimbal can easily handle the weight of the filters the fly more combo comes with it may be possible to add an additional lens on top of it to reduce the FOV, like a telescope. I’d like to be able to capture detail while still flying high but I also wanted the 4k60 footage from the air 2. Does anyone know of a way to swap/install a lens that can do this?

not really i am afraid it would require specialist equipment to achieve a perfect focus and it would not be cost effective

Actually I found custom lenses for the MA2 offered on Amazon. Wide angle and anamorphic I believe.

Let me know if you want links.

You are equating the weight of a tiny filter inside a frame which replaces an empty filter frame with that of a telescope! What you are asking for is physically impossible on the MA2 gimbal. You need a heavy lifter to carry a telescope. Get out your wallet. Such rigs without telescopes start at $5,000 to $10,000. Biggest problem is that all telescopes magnify any movement or vibration of the platform upon which they are mounted. Motion blur will the biggest issue, in addition to atmospheric haze. Closest you can come to what you want is the M2Z in 1080p at 30fps which has a dynamic 4x zoom to a 96mm equivalent which is only a 2x telescope.

I don’t mean being able to see extremely fine details I was just wondering if there’s something similar to the m2z (2 or 4x) but fixed.

Doesn't exist, and the tiny gimbal on the MA2 wouldn't be able to handle it, for all the aforementioned reasons. Get an M2Z which was designed for it, on a smaller sensor, on a larger gimbal, on a larger, heavier drone. However, no 4K at 60fps. The anamorphic lens designed by Moment for the M2P is a complete disaster! Can't even boot up with it attached! Flops down during flight, and has to be landed to start all over again. Requires a huge counterweight that must be installed on a powered up gimbal, and damage to the gimbal is at your risk!

Yea, I was just going to say look at that. They have them but they seem to be pretty bad, at least from this company.
Yep, I certainly wouldn't entertain these particular ones, but it shows that the gimbal can take the weight

It can take the weight of a garbage quality plastic lens. I'm doubting that decent optics would be light enough however.

I bought the ultrawide a few weeks back out of interest, as it wasn't too expensive. But yeah, it wasn't really usable- outside of the centre of the frame, the image was horribly soft. It also had a very strong arc-flare if the sun was just out of frame.
I've attached a couple of examples for interest, but needless to say I won't be using it again. On the plus side- I noticed no unusual gimbal behaviour, no warnings, so the theory is sound... It just depends if someone can make one that works well across the frame without needing extra lens elements which would add to the weight.

Since you can stitch the various preset panos or just create your own, I just don't see how these are that necessary for stills. Maybe video would have some applications if they were sharp. Thanks for the looks. I wondered what they looked like "out in the field". :D:p

They have shade guards available, I wonder if a telescopic lens could be attached to it. Have the guard hold the weight and have the telescopic effect be at a fixed gimbal position.

I might buy the parts and give it a try.

We used to get lens's from these people for our Yuneec drones. They have some for DJI but I don't see anything for MA2. You could try to send off a email to them to see if they have anything to offer. I'm sure you would have to send in your MA2 if they can even do it.
