I live in a neighborhood of lake Conroe, with lake/boat access. Can I fly by or over the lake to film? I also want help to apply for an faa hobby or commercial license but don't really understand the process for licensing or requesting permission if required.

yes flying over the lake is legal, but if it is in a park, etc, you my not be able to take off or land in that area. So check the park out on it’s website.

you’ll have to take the FAA part 107 exam to get a commercial license.. which is a unique number for each drone.... and is $5/drone. Search 107 exam on the forum and the FAA website. The exam requires a significant fee and you have to go to a testing center on their schedule.

You can register as a recreational pilot and use the same number on each drone.
You must be one or the other of the two above to legally fly the drone in the U.S. and the FAA number must be legibly posted on the exterior of each drone.
