Yes, but the M2E packs have the pre heat function for cold environments.

Unfortunately I do not have a preheat function so I only fly when it is above 40 degrees F. So I can use either battery in either of my Mavics.

Might be hard to prevent M2Z/P firmware from being installed to an M2E battery when the E battery is placed in a non-E M2.
