If we’re flying our Mavic Mini in a windy day (not very strong) in C mode and we lose signal until the MM engage RTH. The software can change to Sport Mode on its own choice to beat the wind or it makes the RTH in the previous mode we were using? In this example, it would return in C mode with the risk of being dragged by the wind...

regardless of whether you are in S P or C mode the moment you press RTH it will go into P mode if the drone is struggling to return then if you can stop the auto RTH put it in sport mode and fly back manually while reducing altitude at the same time if you descend and fly forwards at the same time that is the best way to get back you should always try to fly into the wind on the outward leg so you have the wind behind the drone on the return

If you have made the [questionable!] choice to fly your 'out' leg down-wind, and the wind is significant, then you need to forget about using RTH to get the Mavic Mini back to you.
The best strategy if you are having problems getting the Mavic back, is to manually fly the MM to a low, but line of sight altitude, and then fly back at hedge-height - using S mode if you need to. That way you keep the MM down where the wind-speed is lowest.
Wind speed increases significantly above ground level, and therefore, RTH can pop the MM up into airflow that it just can't fight - and the MM will be blown away down-wind.
