Mavic or wait?

Since you guys are more connected, what is the discussion of an upgrade or 2nd gen for the Mavic?

I want to buy one but I would want to buy one now when a newer version might come out soon. I want to take it with me to Thailand in November.

Right now I can get a Mavic for $999 but with a $200 gift certificate. I know there have been various deals recently around $900.

If you wait you can forget the Thailand trip, based on current Mavic release you won't see a new one until November and then with the likely rush to order delivery could be 2018 on past experiences.

Most likely Q4 2018 for any potential mavic 2.

You can wait for 2, but then might as well wait for 3..and then hang on a bit and wait for the 4. And never actually buy one.

Far more likely this year will be a cut down mavic standard and an improved pro next year.
