A reverse Micro USB cable would be a better option since you're going to attach it to the left side of the remote controller. This one probably isn't quite long enough:

Yes.
Very easy to find a cable that fits the hole, very difficult to find a good one that fits, cable quality does vary greatly. Apple cables require a chip built in, if not it will not work reliably, if at all. Yep, the chip must be licensed from Apple, that’s why they cost so much. ?

I have just bought this as I now mount my phone above the handset in a Freewell mount, hope it helps, not right angle but just about reaches without getting in thumbs way.

I guess the longer cables would work with iPads. But I only have a full-sized iPad so holding it and the controller would be unwieldy.
