A month ago I bought my first quad, a Mavic Mini
Ive been enjoying it with no technical issues at all
But I HATE the controller/phone interface holder thingy so when I saw the new Mini 2... I had to buy it!

Charged everything Friday, Saturday I installed new app, all the firmware seemed to update and install just fine
Crummy weather so I decided to just hover indoors and get used to the new control layout
Everything went great, annoyed the cats with it while I retrained my fingers somewhat
Ran about 10 minutes each on all three batteries, recharged over night

Today the weather cleared up so I went out on the deck to see how it compared to the Mini
But it will not connect... yikes
Everything powers up just fine, but I get no connection at all

I never had any issues with the Mini, no matter what sequence I used everything always connected just fine
I tried countless start up combinations thinking that may be the issue
Controller on... Mini2 on... App on... nothing
Mini2 on... controller on... App on... nothing
Restart in different combinations... nothing
Etc... Etc... Etc...

I searched around here a bunch and found nothing specific to the Mini 2
But I saw similar issues with other models so I tried to resolve using those fixes
Changing batteries...
Starting without sd card installed...
Deleted and reinstalled app...
Swapped out different cords...
On and on but Im still getting no connection

Odd because it worked fine yesterday
Any thoughts???????

@TBM Driver dont laugh but have you plugged the lead into the correct place in the top of the controller
and not into the resting place for the wire when its not in use

I had a similiar problem with my mm1. I solved it by formatting the mm1's sd card in a Windows 10 computer. Makes no sense at all, I know. But it fixed the problem when nothing else I tried would work.

For whatever reason the issue never cropped up again.
Made about 3-4 more flights with no issues.
Then after an update....

UGH!!!!!

First flight I lost all downlink data, not just video, but ALL telemetry.
I almost lost the drone as I had forgot about RTH.
I flew it ok a few more times inside of a few hundred yards so I thought it was a fluke.
Then there was another update....

UGH!!!!!

I flew for about about 10 minutes and again lost the entire downlink.
Closing then rebooting the app in flight restored everything.
While RTH I again lost everything again but this time rebooting the app did nothing.
I could control it manually but never regained the downlink.

RTH brought it back, I let it switch to auto-land and descend to about 30 feet.
As soon as I canceled A-L and tried to take manual control it spun wildly and smashed into the side of the house.

UGH!!!!

Split the side of the body, batt door broke, broke an arm, snapped off a motor, and trashed all blades.
I never bought the DJI insurance for my original mini, but when I bought the Mini-2 for some reason I bought the insurance.
So I guess I'll start the process and see how it goes.

Has anyone else been losing all telemetry as Ive described?
Has anyone else used their insurance?

I think I just responded on a Mini thread instead of this Mini 2 thread. I haven't flown mine yet since I've had so much trouble connecting. It's hard to say which method worked, but I spent an hour this afternoon before I got a connection, too late, tired and frustrated to fly. I don't know which one finally did it, but it may have been unplugging and plugging in the controller to phone cable. I also did the press the belly button until it beeps. At first, it wouldn't beep. Several tries got it to beep. I have to admit I'm reluctant to fly. I lost my new Spark on a flyaway. Has return to home been reliable on the Mini 2? RTH on my Spark saw it change its home point from the beach to a spot deep in the nearby forest where it flew to roost.
