Need advice on Mavic Air mobile device and operation of the Air's network

New Mavic Air owner and need advice on a low cost option with largest screen to fit the Air controller. Also I see that it doesn't need cellular service. Does it use the phones dedicated WiFi? Thanks in advance.

Best Buy currently has the iPad Mini 4 for $150 off. That's the largest device you're going to fit into the remote controller arms and likely the least expensive device at that size and with those specs.
