Remote record audio with video. Can this be done?

Is it possible to record audio with video remotely? Example: The guys come out to my country place and are sitting around campfire tipping a few brewes. From 600 feet away I want to fly up....shoot video with audio. How do I do this? M2Zoom / Go4 (cordless microphone with receiver plugged into phone....etc..? Ideas)
Thx for the help.

Are you saying you want to record audio from the aircraft? If so, you'd need to attach some kind of recording device to the aircraft since it does not have a microphone. Something lightweight like a USB drive recorder could work.

If you're referring to recording the audio at the campfire site, you can use any type of recorder and then combine the video and audio later with a video editor.

The easiest and cleanest way is as msinger recommended above is a digital audio recorder to leave with the guys and edit it into the video later.

Or you can use a phone or camera to get closeup ground shots with video too, and edit in the drone video takes into that to get a more interesting two camera view that uses the audio from the ground shots.

You'll want a 2nd recording device located at the point of interaction. Anything recorded from the aircraft will be wind and aircraft noise. I've got one sUAS that does record audio and the first thing I do is remove the AUDIO track before editing.

Curious. Since go 4 app can record audio during video... Does anyone know if I can use a wireless mic at location to be recorded with the receiver plugged in to my phone headset Jack and record live?

Ok. Thanks for the info. So it can be done but will take post edit work to incorporate into video. I'm sure my first few synch attempts will look like an English dubbed Chinese movie ?
Some video editing programs can automatically sync the audio But that won’t work for drone audio. Another good way to do it would be to make a sound like they do when they use a clapboard for movie production - maybe you can use a flash and a sound together to sync the drone video to your ground audio source.

But then, if you add Chinese movie audio dubbing to campfire guy talk, and add a scene like this to it where your drone slowly rises high in the air, and you'd get a few likes:

That’s an interesting thought, but I thought it was to record audio from the drone only. I disabled mine during video recording to save memory.

Best I can tell it records my audio thru phones mic. Seems unlikely it could record at drone with all the noise it makes
Might hit the guitar shop to check on wireless digital microphones to see if I can plug receiver into phones headset Jack and record live. May have to buy.... Test.... And return if it doesn't work..... But if it does yay!

Hey let us know if that works, I would be extremely interested as it would be one less piece of equipment to carry in the field. I don’t see that the Mavic would have an audio channel going from the remote to the drone to record it, but I haven’t tried it either I just assumed it was an option to record from the drone itself, possibly like with the enterprise version. Thanks!

Will post success or failure on attempt. Will take me a few days to determine if possible (go to guitar super center) purchase, and test run.

I have not done it, but my understanding is that Go 4 will record the audio from your phone/tablet mic and sync it to the video cached on your phone/tablet.

Yes. It does. I have done that many times. So now I want to put a cordless mic with a group of people, attach the receiver to my phone's headset in Jack, and see if it (Go4) will allow that audio input switch from built in mic to"headset" mic. It should work and allow live audio recording with video.

May look at blue tooth mic also.
After a full day of research on every option.....it looks like "wireless camcorder microphones" will be the direction I take. The range is not a mile like I want....but 300' I can probably work with on the BOYA BY-WM6 and the price around $100-$125. Will let you know if it works with phone, Go4, live recording.

I really appreciate you taking the time to send this to me. It has undoubtedly saved me alot of time and heartache on my mission. Thanks again.

I am sincerely interested in doing it too, so let us know what you used and about the recommended adapters you use as well.

The usual way to do this is to record the audio separately (use your phone or camcorder or a dedicated recorder like the Zoom series) and then merge that with the video in post. The merging operation is called "multiplexing" and with the right application can be done without re-encoding (i.e., degrading) the video, and without requiring much time or computing horsepower.
