I tested each of the Mavic Pro flying modes today. They all worked well for me. It took a few attempts to get a selfie by hand signals, but even that worked.
I also ran the Mavic forward, backward, and in each sideways direction and saw just over 20 mph in every direction in normal mode. Upward flight showed over 9 mph. Downward flight showed over 6 mph.
At 20mph it took 20-30 feet to stop when I let go of the control stick.
In sport mode I saw over 40mph forward.
The hovering stability of this Mavic is outstanding at any height.
Obstacle avoidance gave good warnings for big things like my body, a chain link fence and big tree trunks. Thin tree branches with or without leaves did not set off an alarm. Park benches with a slanted back did not set off an alarm.
I also ran a number of tests with the Autopilot app. That worked really well, too.
