Updates, need to update with each battery?

Does one have to update for each battery?
Will I have to update to .09 for each of the 3 batteries that I own?

Another question, when doing .09 update, the instructions state that "the RC needs to be connected to the aircraft". Do they mean an cabled connection or wirelessly?

RC connected to the aircraft means "controller on and Mavic on" as if you were going to fly it.

When you put the next battery in you will probably get a Version Mis-match error and it will tell you to update again, this update will be much shorter because it is just updating the battery. That's what happened to me at least.

0800 appeared to require battery updating, but I didn't see that with 0900.

I have success updating first the RC via UBS to DJI Assistant, Mavic off, then Mavic via USB to DJI Assistant, RC off.

Does one have to update for each battery?

If your current battery needs to be updated, you'll see an inconsistent firmware found message in DJI GO (like this). When a battery firmware update is available, it'll need to be installed on each battery separately.
