I remember on the original Mavic it was recommended to turn off VPS when flying over water.

Is this also true with the Mavic 2?

I thought my M2Z was starting to act nuts on 2nd flight over water one day, drifting and going in circles. I RTH before it might decide to go AWOL. Later I realized it probably was tracking water ripples. RTH was flawless.

Idk, I fly mine pretty low close to the ocean surface and don’t have trouble with it hovering even precisely over a spot. I don’t turn any of the sensors off.

I’m even close enough to get the mist from waves barreling over... no issues at all.

Sooo VPS or no VPS?
I'm hearing conflicting answers.
It's not that simple.
VPS may/may not be affected and in different ways with different water conditions. depth and clarity.
Are you planning to be flying close enough to the water to be in VPS range?
Is there a reason that you would really need VPS?

Turn it off and it's unlikely you'll miss it anyway.
