Weird Max Speed Issue?

Hello all,

Took my MA2 out yesterday and properly flew it around for the first time. Pushed it to its max everything, speed, range etc.

I figured out that with the same conditions, I had two different batteries give me a different max speed than one battery.

With the first two batteries, both of their max speeds were 28MPH, the third was 42MPH. All conditions were pretty even, flew with and against the wind, tried to prove myself wrong.

Does anyone know what this could be related to? Has this ever been an issue with other DJI drones? Maybe if they had less charge they wouldn't perform as well? Just trying to figure out what the variable is.

Cheers

Must've had it in normal mode the first two times with a slight tail wind and in sport mode for the third one. Per the MA2 specs for max speed - S Mode 19 m/s (42.5 mph) and N Mode 12 m/s (26.8 mph)

Definitely was in sport but good idea that was one of my original thoughts as well. One of my theories is somehow it is stuck on normal mode even though the controller says sport.

So I always take off in sport mode, so my controller when I turn it on/off is usually on sports regardless. I'm kind of thinking now maybe I should switch from sport to normal and back to sport to see if it might give it some sort of push. Definitely going to test this out at the lake house tomorrow where I have some freedom.

Thank you for giving me the idea Pappy haha

Just an update if anyone was curious, if you take off on “sport” mode, it’s actually just normal mode (limited to 28mph) you have to switch back to normal mode, then switch to sport mode again to get max performance.

This is true. I found that out when I turned everything on in sport mode and then had the sensors beeping at me since I was standing right behind the AC. I realized even though the RC was on sport the AC was in normal because otherwise the sensors would be off. Once I switched to normal and then back to sport the sensor beeping stopped even with me standing in the same place right behind the AC.
