When I download the photos from my Mini 2 to my iPhone X, I only seem to be able to see the jpegs and not the RAW files? I have specified RAW and jpeg in the settings menu on the DJI Fly app by the way. Can someone please tell me why?

Thanks in advance

What is stored on the phone is low resolution photos, you need to D/L from the SD card to a computer or tablet to get the high resolution/RAW shots.

Because your computer cannot read the raw images unless you have specialised software that accepts dng files.
Look closely and if you have 2 of each jpg image, you'll find that one is a tiny thumbnail which is inside each raw image file.

When comparing the photos that are sent to your phone during flight and the photos you pull off the SD card, yes, there is.
The poky little cached images are all low resolution.
If you are talking about the real images (the ones recorded to the SD card), they are all the same resolution, regardless of the file format.
Whether they are jpg or dng makes no difference to their resolution.

There is no difference in resolution between the jpg image files and the raw image files.
There is a huge difference between raw and jpg files. Raw files are MUCH bigger than the jpg version since the jpg's are compressed and therefore are lower quality. I shoot my DSLR cameras in raw only and each file is 25MB+. The jpg version of the file post processing is 1/3 of the original, if that. Same goes for DNG vs jpg in the drone.

And I was attempting to clarify your point >> to get the high resolution/RAW shots.
Which could have lead the OP to believe that the only high resolution files were the dng files that he hasn't been able to find.

True re phone cache, and I find with downloading the higher res photo jpegs and RAW files, if you wifi download you can only download the jpegs.
As you say @Recoveryone the RAW can only be copied from the MicroSD (or maybe by USB cable to computer ??? Not sure never tried that.)

A genuine question, my jpegs from my M1P are a LOT lower files size than the RAW (when I have set to take both).
Not sure if that equates to resolution though, I thought it did ?
No .. it has nothing at all to do with resolution, because the resolution of the jpg is exactly the same as the resolution of the dng file.
Exactly - no difference.
The file size difference is because jpg is a compressed file format while the dng isn't.

Whether you copy direct from the SD card, or via a cable, you are still copying the same files from the same SD card.

You need a RAW file reader. I have one that is probably the most popular. It is a free download from Adobe and works on Mac or PC (you have to indicate which one you want to download). The DNG converter needs constant updates to accommodate new cameras being released on the market. Just GOOGLE this term. "Adobe Free DNG converter," and find what you need from there. When you have the free DNG converter your computer will be able to convert your DNG files from the SD card to RAW files.

Of course after you download it and try it out, if you don't like it, just go the program file in your downloads and delete it.

Thanks Dale, that's really useful to know, will give it a try
