Can you share what is the basis for your expectation that DJI is going to provide an update for your situation "during the next weeks"? I mean, beyond just hoping that they will...
That is not true, at least not in all cases - it depends on the company. Last time I went to Europe, I searched high and low, and yes, most companies I found were not available to Americans (most only accepted EU residents, but frustratingly, they never mentioned that up front, they just...
The Mini 3 Pro does NOT currently have remote ID activated for EU. That's the current line from the DJI mods (who respond as if they were bots, but appear to be actual humans) over on the DJI website. They hint or imply that remote ID will be enabled for the EU at some point but they don't say...
Do NOT provide your US social security number. The "TIN" number they are asking for is for EU residents, your US SSN won't work and only exposes you to potential identity theft.
I know nothing about "D-flight" but when European-based systems ask for a taxpayer ID number, it's expecting...
Well, yeah, in theory...in practice though, sometimes things go sideways if a articular use case has not been adequately tested. So I figured it was worth asking before I just clicked "Update Everything"...just in case it's going to brick something.
I have an early-model Mini 3 Pro. I have not updated ANYTHING on it for a long time. To bring everything up to date, I need to update all of the following:
Aircraft Firmware
RC Firmware
FlySafe database
DJI Fly app
Maybe battery firmware(?)
I'm planning to take the plunge, and update...
So much nonsense, manufactured drama and BS in this thread.
Calm down, be reasonable. If others aren't reasonable, don't try to "fix them." Follow the rules and stop freaking out over nothing. Life is too short for all the crazy.
Why not make your own "label"? Print it on a sticky mailing label, stick it on, off you go...
If they make it impossible to use one of their labels, they should expect people to get creative.
Can someone take a picture of the official label and post it here?
Not true - at least not true in all cases.
Mini 3 Pros that were manufactured before a certain date did not have RID enabled by default. They received a RID activation as part of a firmware update (this was done without notifying users). Once that firmware was installed, RID was enabled and...
Why all this concern about whether or not there's some label in the box? Most of us have printers at home, making labels is not particularly difficult...:p
This is what most rational people involved would simply call "just an implementation detail." I'm not super concerned about this, if the FAA hasn't figured out how to handle it yet, they will soon, as a clash of registration numbers is inevitable. As long as they do something reasonable*...
So I can "cancel" (de-register) my previously registered Mini. I can sell it to someone.
Then the new owner flies it, and - assuming the firmware update that silently switched-on RID had been previously downloaded and installed to that drone or the new owner updates the firmware - that...
But can a drone be UN-registered? (De-registered, whatever.) It's a sincere question.
This drone is not "required" to be registered, so it would (apparently) come down to whether or not it is currently registered.
Human-crewed aircraft can be de-registered.
I know, I own one...and the FAA...
