Yesterday (5/6/24), the FAA finally sent out Requests for Information (RFI) for those who's OOP waivers have been languishing in the queue. We now have a new set of guidelines (not a new regulation) for when we apply for an OOP (107.39) waiver...
^This is rampant across all federal agencies. Only Congress is supposed to make federal law but agencies are making up their own as well. It's getting out of control. No way to address this except from the inside of a courtroom.
[clarification] ....because you don't know the password. Ok to use another or someone else's account like a friend or relative, you just need to have their details such as the password.
Personally if I was flying over water I wouldn't take the chance on a reconditioned battery. Maybe I'm overly cautious, but saving a few dollars and risking losing the whole aircraft seems like false economy.
If you bought a second hand drone and now you are looking for second hand batteries so you can get second hand prices, Amazon has been known to sell "renewed" OEM batteries for US$10 less but that's about all you can expect.
