The Kanapali coast area, the airport at Kahului and the Haleakala National Park are the only areas on the island which show restricted according to Air Aware. There’s still a ton of unrestricted air space to explore on this beautiful island. Go for it.

It doesn’t get said better than this. I’m gonna guess that the legal citation on the sign refers to Section 56.31 to Article 6 of Chapter V of the Los Angeles Municipal Code enacted in 2015. Assuming that’s correct, nothing in that code prohibits the flyover of any park provided it is not...

I don’t think it gets said better than this. The other glaring problem I see with this attempt to control airspace over the park is notice. How does someone launching from a block away and doing a flyover have any idea what this sign prohibits?

Fascinating but as Paul Harvey used to say, where’s the “rest of the story”? The story tells us that subsequent LiDAR runs discovered an object similar to a Lockheed Electra…..and then……nothing. What gives?

All interesting stuff here. I’m more interested in whether and how far any new legislation will affect existing drones. Does the gov have the technology to ground them? Do they envision a buy back program? Do they grandfather in the drones already in private hands? Can you even imagine the...

Yep true - just like a wart.

I replaced the original prop protector with a carefully placed rubber band loosely wrapped around the props before storing in a soft lined case. It is every bit as efficient as it is inelegant. And, spare parts are cheap.
