Do the batteries have some intelligence? The previous ones could discharge automatically after a few days if not used for best storage power level.
 
There is a chip on it. And I imagine DJI wants everyone to buy their battery instead of cheaper 3rd parties. So I'm pretty sure that chip will be the usual "gas gauge" cell controller, with all the usual functionalities.
(still, this is just an opinion based on one photo I've seen)

You can firm up that opinion somewhat- DJI states it is a “smart battery” in the specifications on their website. It needs some sort of BMS SOC to provide telemetry in the app. We should expect auto discharge in the feature set. Save DJI needing to warrant batteries that have died in the first six months by being left at full SOC.
 
Manual says no auto discharge, and provides care instructions to avoid leaving at full SoC for too long, with 10 days as an example. They also indicate avoiding short cycles.

Li-ions won't release hydrogen when fully charged. Though, are they really that? Li-ions weight more that li-pos..
LiPO are LiION, a more expensive to manufacture non rigid package version. Yes they do have higher power density usually. The all produce hydrogen, if it is being released it would seem you have a major fault regardless of the tech.
 
I have a feeling the chip will enter "locked" state as soon as you desolder the cells.

Have fun. I would be looking at Sony and LG as options. You will be limited to 3Ah however the higher C rating will give you a better safety margin. Any of the 10A cells might work ok however they will get hotter in use. There is no free lunch here. DJI went with a lower capacity cell for a reason, it won’t be cost. Most of the higher capacity cells can be found cheaper. The Samsung is a known performer, proven reliable in demanding applications.
 
45grams compared to 46.9grams
No surprise. The counterfeit chinesium ones occasionally reveal themselves by being few grams underweight- there isn't much in it usually. I might be tempted to go to 3Ah 15A as a compromise. I think your pushing your luck with the Sanyo. Will be interesting to see how it goes after a reasonable number of flights. My suspicion is that DJI found the best compromise with the 25R's. If they could get a leg up in the flight time wars without any detriment they almost certainly would have employed one of the candidates amongst the 3 or 3.5Ah options.
