Interesting odds and ends about the Avata 2

Appears NOT to have Precision Landing, after several careful tests. I don't remember is the Avata 1 does (will have to test). The FPV does.

Interesting odds and ends about the Avata 2

First: It stays in S mode between launches using the MC3. Haven't tested with the RC3 (no time today), which differs in having a hardware switch. This may behave the way it does on all other DJI drones, launching in N and ignoring the switch position. Also don't know if S mode is sticky across...

Avata 2 now supports older goggles, controllers

Yes, me. Already had MC1 from FPV, flew Avata 1 with Goggles V2, FPV RC, and MC1 for a long time, until I got a set of Goggles Integra a few months ago. Might have done the same with Avata 2 if I knew DJI was going to in effect add support for O3 to the drone (or O4 to the Integra and MC2, but...

Never bought from B&H Photo... should i?

Update: Due to a personal tragedy occurring in my life, getting the Avata lost all importance the last few weeks. I didn't order until Thursday, paid the extra $27 to get it overnight, and it arrived at 11am yesterday. Very happy with B&H.

Avata 2 now supports older goggles, controllers

New firmware for Avata 2 adds support for Goggles 2, Integra, and the Motion Controller 2 and FPV RC. DJI sells the Avata 2 Drone-only IIRC, so if you already have this gear, you now have a pretty inexpensive path to an Avata 2.

U.S. Based - What will you do IF....

Why do you think it doesn't exist just because it hasn't been shared with you? Is it your judgement that a nefarious actor gathering intel in this manner would show the offending source code to their target? Is there an alternative they might surrender instead? I have no idea if China is...

    Puzzling to me

🤣🤣 All of them! They're very tiny, my friend. 100 feet and it's like trying to see and control a fly. However the rule in question with the tinywhoops was FPV without a VO. But yeah, they get BVLOS buzzing around an open field, easily.

Got a visit while flying near Denver Broncos stadium today at 5:40am

So whether or not someone is arrested, in your view, rests on the opinion of each individual LEO as to whether or not a law – as applied to the situation before them – is constitutional? That is your understanding about how constitutionality is determined? Do you not see the huge problem with...

Mavic 3 Pro motors shutting down at idle after running several minutes indoors.

Maybe the update wasn't quite finished and you thought it was, and it did a final reboot? Just trying to think of how this might have occurred, and then not be reproducible by you.

    Hyperlapse

Two ways I can think of... Use the "free flight" hyperlapse option and directly fly the orbit, stopping in front facing the building and let it finish the specified number of frames. You will have to figure out speed, interval, and clip length to achieve this, then carefully fly according to...

And it's not their job to decide what is and is not constitutional. Their job is to enforce the law in effect, the a priori presumption that it's constitutional, as determined by lawmakers, courts, and judges. Until a law is ruled unconstitutional as part of adjudicating an actual case, it is...

    Puzzling to me

It's been discussed here several times previous, and can be found with a search. @Vic Moss is involved.

    Puzzling to me

The risk is entirely dependent on the flight. It can easily be "zero" and often is. @Cafguy flying his tinywhoops FPV in his backyard buzzing around play structures, lawn furniture, etc. if he has a collision with an army helicopter, it won't be @Cafguy that's in a lot of trouble. Among my...

    Puzzling to me

No, that is not an answer to the question posed. It's a recitation of the requirement to follow the law. People routinely fly BVLOS – and aren't cited or punished – pretty much for the reasons I articulated. That's not an endorsement of the practice, but a realistic explanation for why the rule...
