Getting it out of your system ! Fly higher

For me the extended altitude has allowed me to fly mountain and canyon contours that were impossible with a 400 foot limit from point of takeoff. I still maintain no more than 400 feet above the ground below (generally only 150 feet above terrain based on estimated height of trees). Before I...

Mini 2 Extraordinary Colorado 14er hike on Huron Peak!

Nicely done. That wasn't Twin Lakes, they are in the opposite direction and you can't see them from Huron. What you saw was Taylor Reservoir. Ice and the Apostles have claimed a few over confident hikers over the years. You took some great video of a meadow I owned below the peak. Bought my Air...

    Firehouse strobe

Hi Mikey, not a dumb question at all. I can have perfect VLOS until I look down for that second, then "lose" my bird when I look back up, even if it hasn't moved. Firehouse strobes (white) have made it easy to instantly re-spot the aircraft and establish VLOS quickly. I put my strobes on top and...

Air 2 Learning on the dirtbike.

Nice. Moving objects are a great challenge and I think you did a great job flying. Video editing was also good for a "first" effort. Underpowered anything (computers, cars, drones) are always life's biggest frustrations, having the right tools is more than half the job. Good luck as you upgrade.

Alpine white Mavic Pro finds new home 70ft up in a tree

Throwing/slingshotting a weight and pulling in rope may be easy enough, but I've found the clutter of tree canopy can make being precise enough to get the right branch pretty tough. I'm also very good at wrapping weights around branches and sticking my string in trees. You can buy 10 foot...

Confused about the 98 foot altitude restriction.

This may not apply at all, but I suddenly had that same issue arise after an update with my Air 1 last summer. My 400 ft. limit defaulted to 98 feet. I had to go into the app and manually change the limits. I maxed it out and contour flew up a mountain gaining over 1600 feet elevation over my...

    Clifton, CO now NFZ???

Maybe totally irrelevant, I've read on some other national sites there is a move to added security in fear of potential white supremacist domestic terrorist attacks. Let's waste more time and money on things that don't matter and will never happen. I don't know, as long as you aren't a...

Three Minutes of Terror! - A Droner's Cautionary Tale

Do-de-do-do-do-do d'oh! Loved it! That same expression has come out of my mouth right before imminent disaster several times. I was surprised by that same altitude limitation at take off( the app automatically updated and I was unaware) and I wasted a lot of flight time trying to get to settings...

Lake Crowley Stone Columns with Mavic Mini

This guy may or may not be helpful on youtube (I don't know if he's done anything specifically for the Mini) Jeven Dovey another one that might be helpful is 51 Drones. I hope this helps.

Lake Crowley Stone Columns with Mavic Mini

I don't know a thing about the Mini, does it use the Go 4 app? If I remember from reading about the Mini it's the DJI Fly app. I think that's where I adjusted settings for my Mavic Air. If not I had the controller plugged into my laptop with DJI Assistant(?) Try a google or youtube search for...

Lake Crowley Stone Columns with Mavic Mini

What an awesome opportunity! I don't want this to come across in any way as negative (I have hours of video to edit someday, then when I post people will rip me apart), but do some searches here and on youtube regarding settings on your joystick control settings, (I'm looking at your join...

Edit on mount issue. Aerial west seems like a genuine guy. I will just have to be patient and wait I guess

All I want to add to this thread is this is the real deal. I was afraid something bad had happened to the owner. until I saw his responses. I ordered, had problems of my own making and the customer service was awesome and prompt. Bottom line is this is the best way to fly with a tablet, I found...

    Canyons

Hi John, Sorry it took a while to get back to you. When you watch the Mavic Air sales videos it seems like the sky is the limit, in some other countries yes but not here. I have some mountain property I want to fly, but it goes from 9,000 to 12,000 feet. To do what I want to do I have to climb...

    Canyons

I fly a lot of remote canyons in Western Colorado, and that first 50 or 60 times you get the heeby jeebies, after that not so much. I see everyone chimed in on the 400 foot rule. The reality is that if you fly over any terrain other than a sheet of glass at a max of 400', your altitude is going...
