I see folks talking about this screen that tells them to calibrate, but it clearly says "aircraft status" at the top of the page.
This page is just telling you the status (as indicated by the right column; everything should be listed as "normal" prior to lifting...
Not for me it wasn't.
I upgraded to 900 (from 400) and had terrible drifting as well as constant range issues..
Back on 400 now and everything just works...
I live near 13224 (Syracuse), but I travel a lot for work.. On and off for the next few weeks I'll be in 41018 (working at CVG).
Any advice on good flying areas would be great
I use an Nvidia shield for dedicated mavic use (well, 90% at least) no issues at all. For $199 I could justify it. And I get an hdmi out to use with my fatshark hd3 goggles.
No benefit really. It was a court ruling that reversed what the FAA was doing: article https://www.google.com/amp/s/phys.org/news/2017-05-court-drone-registry.amp
It's also on the FAA site:Registration Deletion
Even though of course they'll still let you give them money and record your info...
Sorry , I should clarify the arcing is when I plug it in to the wall outlet with no batteries connected . I don't get any arcing when I connect batteries or devices to the charger .
Yeah, it does work really well. My biggest annoyance is that it doesn't have an on/off switch, so it arcs pretty good when you plug it in. I'll probably add one at some point.
I got the fslabs version :Amazon.com: FSLabs DJI Mavic Pro 5 In 1 Rapid Battery Charger Smart Multi Battery Intelligent Charging Hub With Ground Connection: Toys & Games
I charge the battery, controller and phone or tablet at the same time and I don't see any difference in the time it takes the battery either way.
Although mostly now I use the aftermarket charger to charge 3 batteries, controller and tablet at once.
I think if you are getting a message to calibrate nearly everytime, you are either always trying to take from your grill or the hood of your car or something is wrong with the Mavic...
Is it just the status window that shows the state of everything when you first connect?
I've had it since January. As far as how I hold it, I either use a bracket I made similar to the Mavmount or I use a longer USB cable and stand if there are other people around that want to see the screen.
All I fly with is my Shield (which is mostly dedicated to the mavic) or my Note 4 when I want to be a little more portable .
Both work just fine. I don't have any IOS devices , so I can't compare unfortunately . But for $200 the shield is excellent . I also have a pair of fatshark hd3 goggles...
No, only if the app says it needs it, which has only happened once to me when trying to take off from concrete with a lot of rebar.
I've flown in NY and CA and not done any calibration.
