I realize now how many reasons there are NOT to start the drone as I take it out of the case. I always watch for metal (even underground) when I set the landing pad but didn’t think about the cart. I have not been prompted to do a calibration though.
I’ll have to test that. I always thought that home Point was set when you started the motors, but it would explain 2 recent home point misses my drone had. I’ve been documenting a golf course reconstruction project, which requires me to move around on my golf cart to various locations on the...
I fly a Mavic 2 Pro every day using a smart controller and I’ve never seen (or at least never noticed) the aircraft status page you show in the first picture. I will look to see if it’s available. I updated the Mavics (I have Pro and Zoom) for RID but have never tried to see if it’s functioning...
Did you ever get this straightened out? I had a different importing (into Photos) issue this morning and noticed your thread as I searched for answers.
I know that there have been date and time problems over the years with the Mavic 2 and Smart Controller, but I haven't seen this one discussed. This morning I flew for about 20 minutes, taking both photos and videos. It all occurred during one flight, and the aircraft was never powered down...
Hi Dale, I enjoyed the video (which I just stumbled on tonight 5/5/24). In one scene, i thought you were pretty gutsy flying backward next to some old sailing vessels with tall masts and rigging, and then I thought maybe you reversed the video in post. That’s when I noticed the cars on the...
I just checked my drones’ registrations on faadronezone and my Mini 3 Pro has a serial number beginning with 1581F which means RID is onboard. I had to manually change the S/N’s of my Mavic 2’s on the registration page by adding the 1581F prefix (and 0 at the end if I remember correctly) after...
I don’t pretend to know anything about non-US citizen access. I’m sure that’s well covered elsewhere. But aside from that, there are two aspects to flying here - is it legal (do you have proper permission from gov’t entities) and 2) is it possible to take off given DJI geofencing. These are two...
I submitted a LAANC request over the weekend for permission to go to 400' for 15 minutes in a 200' grid in SUA (Stuart FL). I was worried that the FAA might take too long to respond. They didn't - it was denied at 7:13am today with the only comment being "Never authorized." I thought it was a...
Did it happen while you were using a DJI unlock license? It seems to me that we decided (maybe in an off-forum discussion) that it had something to do with the DJI unlock giving unlimited height inadvertently.
@twickers14 - here's the map for Naples. There are no Red zones here, compared to the St. Cloud airport, so you'll be able to fly with a self-unlock. For that I think you'll need a verified DJI account. Check out DJI FlySafe.
@MavicFlyer2 - If DJI has the area geofenced (and they likely will if it's controlled airspace) you will not be able to take off unless you have unlocked the area via DJI's unlock process. As I recall, you have to be in a WiFi environment to do that, to get the unlock license onto the mobile...
