A mountain, a regulation, and maybe unfounded "rules"

Thanks to Rupprecht Law: Advisory Circular 107-2 on Section 107.33 Visual observer. VO. The use of a VO is optional. The remote PIC may choose to use a VO to supplement situational awareness and VLOS. Although the remote PIC and person manipulating the controls must maintain the capability to...

    Grounded DJI drones in 2020

Even some government agencies have cleared the. DJI Government Edition for use — no data transmission detected other than telemetry to RC. Just racist paranoia.

FAA to Impose 400' Max for Rec Flyers NO EXCEPTIONS

Buying a license won’t get you over 400’ AGL — you need a waiver, too, unless flying near a structure. Wait until you have to pass a test. You do know that there are good reasons for these restrictions, right? FAA would prefer not to waste its time, but irresponsible operators make it necessary.

    Time for goodbye to DJI?

I keep seeing these unlocking issues on forums but have yet to have difficulty unlocking. The software states I’m in restricted airspace (including NFZ) and asks if I take responsibility for the flight. Once I have authorization, I say yes and it unlocks. I’ve even had it unlock right next to a...

Flying over schools when no one is there?

Sadly, the “yet” is key. One by one, we are being locked out of various locations.

Skydio 2 - pre-orders open at $999 US Only so far

Yep, thought the same thing about crashing the Phantom. It makes the Skydio look like it’s designed for incompetent pilots.

Skydio 2 - pre-orders open at $999 US Only so far

Flying selfie cam. Not a bad idea, and the GPS tracking is nice. I don’t think I’d find it useful, but I know people who would love it. That said, it would be nice if DJI came out with something like the Beacon controller for the M2P so we could get (almost?) the same kind of use without...

(Run in with Indiana dnr)Does anyone know if it’s illegal to fly in state parks I read that it was ok as long as it wasn’t a national park

California state parks are the worst. You can’t fly a drone except where you can, and the info is buried deep in many cases. You often have to know how to get to the District website then search the whole thing for every conceivable synonym for “drone.” Then the wording is vague and subjective...

    USFS Drone Possession Illegal

Interesting that they even worded it correctly, prohibiting landing and piloting. Don’t let California State Parks see that!

    Hello from California Delta

It’s been closed for a while now. I think the island dock was damaged in a storm. It looks fine on the Rio Vista side.

    Hello from California Delta

I’m planning a challenge to some of the rules but that’s a while away. I guess when you have such a huge population, you get a lot of bitching people, not to mention irresponsible people ruining it for everyone else.

    Hello from California Delta

Not to mention all the illegal “rules” we have.

Reckless flying- what are your thoughts?

How about drunk people flying a drone from a boat and buzzing other boats. Haven’t seen a “reck” from it but a few near misses.

    Almost Arrested

Beautiful shot! At least post it for stock and make a little money for your trouble. If that’s legal, of course. I don’t know the UK laws around that or if Australian authorities would enforce them. Still, that really is a once-in-a-lifetime shot!
