The information is not complete. I used to live in Sonoma and there were tons of additional local restrictions. I live in New Mexico since beginning of the year and it's much easier to fly here.

I moved here in January. Haven't done much flying but it seems NM is way less restricted than CA.

I agree about the need for practicing. I did a lot of flying first in my backyard to get good with the controls. But flying with the drone far away when you can’t really see it is a different beast. I found it important to get a feel for the distance of objects when you see them on the screen...

Manual landing definitely seems to be safer. I guess I have to try next time I have the opportunity in a good area.

I have some ideas for interesting night shots but I wonder what problems may arise. Obviously you have to look for potential obstacles while there is still light. But what other problems may come up? Does takeoff and landing work properly or are there any components of the navigation system that...

Last weekend I hiked up Black Mountain in Henderson. It's pretty nice to fly there. also flew off Turtlehead Mountain in Red Rocks.

I am thinking about selling mine. Northern CA (especially Sonoma) is too restricted that it's not really fun to fly one.

Can anyone recommend places in Sonoma County? seems a lot of places are no-fly.

I am also a new pilot from Sonoma County and pretty confused about where to fly legally. Is flying in Oakland legal? I like the shots.
