    Uncontrolled dip into salt water

Appreciate your comments BadWolf1. That's what I thought had happened so I'm not sure why, despite up stick at 1.8 sec, it continued to drift down. Have got a repair guy looking inside to see if any water got inside (he says hopefully!)

    Uncontrolled dip into salt water

Took off from the boat (several successful prior trips) and ~ 5 seconds later, lost height, briefly touched the water's surface but then managed to lift off and my MA was safely retrieved but I suspect it may have got a bit damp! I'd really appreciate it if someone could interpret my flight logs...

    Compass Calibration...Your Observations.

Hi Tofino ( or others). You said your RC controller was at 67%. How do you find out that exact battery remaining figure? (I’m on MA)

    Mavic Air Controller

Thanks - I thought there was also some way to display on my iphone (ie DJI GO) the remote's % remaining charge?

    Mavic Air Controller

On the topic of the controller how do I find out what level of charge I have remaining on my RC?

Solved: IMU calibration. Edited: What is causing the drifting and loss of altitude just after take off?

A related query - what happens to the drone’s understanding of its altitude when it flies off a cliff? eg if the max altitude is set at say 50 and its at say 45 feet but then I take it off a cliff which is say 200 feet high. Does it issue a warning that’s its exceeded the max altitude? Does it...

    Charging Magic Air Controller

Picking up on an earlier query. When flying how can I check the charge level of the controller?

    Launch and return to boat

I've got a Mavic Air so as MJBok has clarified, I won't have the choice of even taking off its displaying "compass error". If I can find a spot on the boat (its biggish) that I can get the compass to calibrate, then I could fly BUT if I loose connection, and the RTH is enabled, the MA will be...

    Launch and return to boat

Hi R - I won;t be relying on RTH so won't be needing to update my home point (if in fact that's possible - I thought RTH was specifically return to the take off point, NOT where you subsequently have moved to ?). My Q is: - can you in fact take off if the RC is showing"compass error"; and - if...

    Launch and return to boat

Tx Mossiback. So you're saying there's only 2 alternatives. Either: - I find a spot on the boat that allows me to calibrate the compass; or - I don't fly because the risk of a flyaway is too high if I get compass error (I'm OK with hand launch and land)

    Launch and return to boat

So if I get the compass warning, do I have the choice to takeoff anyway - or won't it allow me to takeoff at all? I won't be able to move anyway to calibrate as the whole boat has plenty of metal. As the boat will move, I won't be using RTH and will be flying manually with clear line of sight...

    Launch and return to boat

Hi I'm planning an outing on a friend's 50 foot aluminium boat - plenty of steel as well no doubt. I expect I'll be able to lock into ~10 - 15 satellites but not sure about compass calibration. If I have clear viability; no wind etc am I going to be able to operate without risk of rogue flyaway...

    Insurance in Australia

Tx for that. I’ll look into it with my current insurer.

    Insurance in Australia

Does anyone known of an insurer in Aust which offers cover for drones (similar perhaps to State Farm which a lot of owners seem to use in USA)? Thanks
