Well I’m happy to say I was able to recover “Mav”! A good friend offered to take me out in his boat to get it. Even with a 13’ branch trimmer and my 6’ frame I was just barely tall enough to reach it.
I’m still in shock that I was able to get it back- or that it hung around in the branches...
I looked on google earth and measured the distance from the shore to the tree it’s in. Holy **** I was way off- it’s about 200’. I may try a canoe with a buddy hoping that works and rain holds off for a few days.
I wish it were that simple. The tree is deceptively far from dry land (I’d guess 80-100’) and about 15 feet up in the air. We tried wading out to it yesterday but we got up to our waist and it was still getting deeper. I think my only option at this point is a canoe or boat of some kind...
