The Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland by Mavic Pro

Spent a week in County Kerry, Ireland trying to fly around some of the lovely scenery of the Wild Atlantic Way with the Mavic Pro. It was extremely windy which meant almost all flying had to be done in sport mode otherwise the Mavic would simply drift (quickly) away as it couldn't hold its...

Mavic Air vs Mavic Pro 4K video comparison

So I have been back to one of my favourite local places and tried to capture some of the same footage from the Mavic Air and Mavic Pro to provide a side by side comparison of the 4K video. The results of which can be seen here:

    Mavic Air Picture quality

They look pretty good to me and what is expected from the MA. Sharp in the foreground and a little softer in the background (like the tower) and some noise in the shadows.

    Frozen by Mavic Pro

I would like to try them (use Fatshark for FPV racing which are quite good), but its not legal to fly here in the UK using goggles without a spotter which is a pain...

    Gorges and icefalls... (Germany)

Beautiful indeed! Funny as I started watching it on my iPad and it looked like there was lots of jello so switched to the Mac and it was perfect (must be some odd compression going on with the iPad YouTube app). Were you tempted to fly underneath the bridge :-) Great job!!

    Frozen by Mavic Pro

Thanks, yes it’s a close call between my iPhone and fingers too although I’ve recently got a CrystalSky which handles the cold better.

    Frozen by Mavic Pro

Frozen, yes me and the water but I think it was worth it. Might be the last footage from my Mavic Pro for a while as it is now giving me a gimbal overload message... Hope you enjoy.

Filming low and slow can really help with a more cinematic look.

Was a bit nerve racking due to the wind but made it safely :-) Have done quite a bit of indoor flying as well down narrow corridors which was a blast, but again nerve racking....

Filming low and slow can really help with a more cinematic look.

Very nice indeed, lovely smooth flying does create a great cinematic effect. I have been doing some similar stuff recently (although with a MP)...

    More from the Scottish Highlands

Thanks! All shot in 4K, d-cinelike, sharpness +1, contrast and saturation at 0. Shot in manual mode at 30FPS and try to keep the shutter at 1/60 but often goes higher, even up to 1/320 when it’s brighter and I don’t want to land to change filter. Generally using at ND8 and adjust shutter...
