E-Biking and Flying Your Drone Remotely

Here’s my silliness. Schwinn FS scooter. Somebody tossed it out by the dumpster at work. I adopted it. All it needed was new batteries and I had to buy a charger too. $65 for that and fix some frayed wires and I was cruising. 24v and kinda lame in the performance department. I couldn’t...

E-Biking and Flying Your Drone Remotely

That fat rear hub gives it away to me instantly. It’s not stealthy in that regard. Nice bike. I want one!

    Distractions

Have you ever gotten distracted while your drone is hovering somewhere and forgot it was up there? I did today for a moment or two. I was getting tree removal done and offered the company owner a few free aerial photos and he accepted. During the process my wife distracted me about...

Well, there he goes- pilot flying in a National Park (US)

Forest fires also get started by people committing arson. In these cases the law obviously doesn’t matter.

Well, there he goes- pilot flying in a National Park (US)

If choose to fly in an area where permits might be required and I didn’t have one, I certainly would not pick the lot of a scenic overlook as my base. Many of those overlooks have trails that lead away from the lot. If anything, I’d try and go down a trail and find a more secluded place to...

    Tips on holding drone filming

With editing I think you can cut and splice various cuts of filming together. Maybe even edit lighting and blend it in fairly good. So, I didn’t think there’s a need to accomplish what your after all in one single filming event. Fly down to the door and hover a few seconds, stop filming, land...

I was thinking it had to be a simple explanation

    Camera perspective

My house is under the landing approach for BWI runway 33. When crossing over my house the planes look fairly close. I can see details like aircraft type, which carrier they are and if landing gear is up or down, etc… The other day I popped the drone just above my tree canopy to try and shoot...

Wow, all of Md. is restricted air space

Maybe it’s your proximity to the White House since Marine One would be active frequently from that location.

    Stick Mode

I tried stick mode 1 and didn’t like it. I thought I would get a more omnidirectional control out of the left stick in mode 1 but that didn’t happen. Its back to mode 2 for me.

Proposals for suitable bag or backpack.

Check the Apache cases at Harbor Freight. They are competitively cheap and customizable. They are filled with sectioned foam which you remove portions to fit your stuff. They come in different sizes too. Here’s one of the larger ones. I configured a smaller one for my MM1. I did a video on...

    Stick Mode

I have been practicing flying around my back yard at low altitude and slow speed C mode zig zagging through the tree trunks. I had it suggested to me to try without the sticks on the controller and I did. I like that way better. I’ll try without sticks in open field conditions at higher...

    Return to home function

Thanks. I’m about to start another topic but I’m not sure how popular it will be. Guess I’ll “risk it “

    Return to home function

Thanks for sharing this as it gives others a chance to think about how it might be prevented. Here’s an idea. If you will be flying away from your location over water, just go ahead and set your RTH altitude high enough to clear the taller trees. Then if the RTH initiates automatically or if...
