The Mavic batteries will auto-discharge after a set time of inactivity.

Flying towards the sun definitely affects the sensors regardless of firmware version. Easy to test by turning away from the sun. You can always turn off the sensors if it becomes too much of a problem.

Perhaps your tablet memory is full so it is writing to the memory card. Check My Files > STORAGE USAGE. I do not know if this could be your problem; I am using the PC analogy of when the available RAM is full Windows will write to the hard drive. It works but much slower.
