The reviews and ratings on Amazon are usually pretty accurate when taken as a whole and throwing out the outliers. I also like the variety on Amazon vs. the selection at brick and mortar shops are usually pretty limited.

I'm in KC, welcome aboard! I've mounted my strobe to the forward face of one of the front arms. It definitely helps on bright days for tracking. The strobe I bought came with velcro and it seems to work just fine and allows for it to be removable and light weight.
