Is it legal and ethical to fly near firefighters in a case like this?

Oops- let me clarify, this isn't my footage. I live right above this marina, but didn't fly my Mavic yesterday. This is going around on Facebook among people who live here and I was wondering if people felt the footage was appropriate. (It's not actually Mavic footage, it's from a Parrot Bebop I...

Is it legal and ethical to fly near firefighters in a case like this?

I live right next to this marina. I could have sent my Mavic out to shoot this fire, but thought it might be a distraction or even illegal. (This isn't like a massive wildfire with an NFZ obviously) I am still new to the hobby and trying to learn the law and what's ethical. I have no real...

Is DJI using our WiFi accounts directly?

This I can agree with. I don't trust DJI a bit, and I wish this was an Apple product. Lol. (Even a Google one, though I have serious criticisms about their business practices and approach to privacy too). That said, this particular concern-- that the drone can access your wifi whether you...

Free two-hour Mavic Pro video course

I'm not missing the point. The course is relatively short - just two or three hours of content. It was put up free as a gift to the community and I assume to drive up views. There is nothing to subscribe to (at least in this course) after you've seen it. Yes it was locked early by accident...

Is DJI using our WiFi accounts directly?

I'm a professional iOS developer and to the best of my knowledge, there is no way that the Mavic could steal WiFi credentials via the DJI Go app. As for your theory that the drone does it by packet sniffing on the wifi spectrum -- these are (generally) encrypted and not trivial to gain access...

Lost at Sea :( Please Help3

Thank you for your service. If it is pilot error as suggested by one prior poster is the cause then I'll just say it's a mistake I could see myself making. I do not think it was ethical of DJI to suddenly restrict existing drones until logged in partly due to edge cases like this which will...

dark stripes on portrait photos...what is that?

Even though it's inconsistent - that almost has to be a hardware issue. Especially as the orientation of the stripes changes with the camera. It's far too regular and perfect to be any kind of reflection or shadow in my view. CCDs as far as I know don't usually fail like this. Mysterious.

Free two-hour Mavic Pro video course

It was a good course. Thanks for this. I watched it a few days ago. For those finding it locked, maybe consider buying a subscription at least briefly - it's not terribly expensive and maybe it would help to financially support this course.

There and Back Again - an AMAZING tale of a lost Mavic, must read!!

When the day comes I crash mine, I'll remember this awesome story. Even skilled, experienced, commercial pilots with tons of training can make mistakes. Hopefully I won't need scuba gear when my time comes as I know nothing about that world. Lol

    Apple Store, Say What ???

Could be that they're really high margin, but probably not as I've never seen Philips Hue bulbs at significant discount through any reseller online or off (I have a house full of them, and could have bought a couple more Mavics with the light bulb budget!). If I was going to assign an...

    Apple Store, Say What ???

In an area where I'm not an expert (say for example, smart door locks), I usually rely on the Apple Store to filter out the good from the bad for me. They try their best to only cary things they're willing to associate with the Apple brand, and rarely will you find a poor choice on the shelf at...

How hard would it be to simulate litchi missions in google earth?

I'm also a software developer by trade. I'm overbooked on projects right now, but I'd like to try and help at some point if an open source effort gets underway. I have both Macs and PCs here, but much prefer the Macs, so I'd love to find a cross platform solution eventually.

    Video editors

+1 this is dead on. Though I think Final Cut Pro is genuinely superior to Premiere, it is often perceived as merely almost as good. Either are excellent. If you have a Mac you can get by with the excellent iMovie until you start craving advanced color grading, object tracking, etc.
