Well whatever problem you have with the footage is user error.
An ND filter is doing more harm than good in this light situation.

Those samples are all pretty well lit, both contrast examples, where sharpening doesn't really kick in. Check out my posting earlier in the thread to see what happens in dim light.
I applaud your ingenuity in fixing this, but for the sake of safety I would never fly with a "repaired" controller. The metal rods seem like a good idea, until you think about stuff like RC interferance, induction, short circuiting.. I don't know man. Flying a drone is dangerous enough as it is...
My take on flying in ATTI mode:
Don't fly in ATTI mode*.
*maybe, if the ground below the drone is well lit and has high contrast patterns going on, then you can fly at your own risk.
