Introducing MavenRoute – A New Web Mission Planner for DJI Drones

Your video does show sharing of missions developed on a desktop being transferred to the drone correct?

Introducing MavenRoute – A New Web Mission Planner for DJI Drones

Looks fantastic, love the terrain following feature and the ability to plan on a desktop in advance then transfer to the drone. (Reminds me of the now sadly defunct Autopilot). Does it avoid terrain obstacles like tall antenna, wind mills etc info available on VFR sectionals? I’m guessing we...

    Scam alert: Mavic 2 Pro

Odd, the Mavic 2 Pro seems to attract jerks. I’ve tried several times to sell my M2P on Kiji & Craig’s List without success and I’ve had to withdraw the ads each time. I get people in distant places asking for it to be shipped with payment later, payment by PayPal (where they can claim it was...

    Affinity goes free...

I don’t like the corp. Adobe, but having lived as a pro photographer (less so today), I can tell you there is nothing to beat Lightroom and Photoshop, especially today with the AI features. When time and quality are priorities, they are unbeatable.

Do I need an ND filter for Mavic 4 Pro?

A small correction, ND filters are used for still photography, often in order to get a soft blur on water falls, rapids and sea scapes. There are many reasons to use ND filters and polarizers for artistic reasons. And with the amazing ability of modern drones to hold position, a slow shutter...

UK military shooting down UAVs now...

Wait ‘til FIFA World Cup 2026, you’ll see the National Guard popping drones out of the sky like Grouse on the Glorious Twelfth.

    Counter-drone program for World Cup?

I like the statement “They have an amazing potential for both good and ill. We will increase the enforcement of current laws to deter two types of individuals: evildoers and idiots—the clueless and the careless.”

Mavic 4 Pro - a couple of questions

I see you only have couple of posts so maybe you’re new to drone flying. Us older guys who by necessity developed methodical check lists years ago, when drones were less reliable, might add ”unfold propellors” to a novice checklist. Becomes second nature after while. But also reminds you to...

Turbine Inspection Drone Market to Surpass $1.23 Billion by 2033.

Amazing business development from virtually nothing in 2012 when I got my Phantom to a huge new commercial business sector today and still growing in leaps and bounds. Hard to believe.

Are Automatics , technology & AI ruining skills and the industry ?

I’d say never underestimate technology. Few of us would be flying drones if it wasn’t for the geniuses at DJI in-particular who developed the control system and reliability of todays drones. Try flying a RC aircraft. In the 80’s twin engined commercial airliners were restricted in oceanic...

Cropping - Process or Just Wing It?

Agree with all of above, Lightroom (photoshop & probably other software) have all the standard composition overlays as guides, see Development/Tools/Crop Guide Overlays, so its easy to step through them and find the one that “rings”. Then afterwards apply your gut feel, that will be what makes...

    Canada - NOTAMs

Tks Panagiotis, the feedback from NavCanada is Canada specific, other air navigation service providers may interpret their NOTAMs differently.

    Canada - NOTAMs

CANADA has a shortage of Controllers like the US & elsewhere. As a consequence airspace capacity is often reduced around airports like CYUL where I operate. Recently, Nav Canada has been issuing NOTAMs at the weekend restricting VFR and IFR training, aerial photography and site seeing over...

Lens Hood for Mavic Air 3s

A lens hood on an ultra wide lens (the case for all basic drones) doesn’t serve much purpose because an effective hood would interfere with the FOV. Try to shoot at more than 90 deg to the sun or directly into the sun.

MAVIC 4 PRO - TEST - Freewell Mist Filter 1/4 - Is It Worth It? (True HDR10, 6K)

All comments are correct but to your question, IMO a mist filter has little value and not worth all the fiddling around attaching/detaching. Lightroom has amazing tools and Dehaize is one of them. Make sure you shoot raw and LR will do wonders in post.
