Crossing a country where drones are banned

A $20 handshake will usually get you out of any sticky situation in Mexico. Except with the Federales. With those guys it's more likely to get you a trip to the slammer. Honestly if you are going all over South America you probably will end up dead in a ditch regardless of what you do so I'd...

    Overexposure

So a week ago or so I posted some washed out video and asked "WHY?!?!" I had everything set to Auto but got some bad vid. Well turns out... the Mavic can't easily handle some scenes, especially ones over water. It's Auto mode was probably designed by the same people who made Tesla's Auto...

    Canadian flying in the USA?

Hey people. Canadian here. I was in Arizona last winter. Beautiful state by the way. I registered my Mavic with the FAA. Flew a bit. Left and went back home to Canada. Then Canada went a bit nuts with licenses and regulations. So I got my Canadian license, registered my Mavic in...

You can't fly your drone here

"They're afraid that someone might be having more fun than them, and they can't stand it. " Lol... for sure there's bound to be some basic jealousy. Same for ebikes and other cool tech. I got a Google Glass unit back in 2014. Super fantastic gizmo. Basically a cell phone/iPad on your face...

    Overexposed Video

I'd never heard of DLOG. Just reading about it now. Also knew about the wheel to adjust exposure but it's a bit tough in bright light to even see the screen so it's tough to know for sure if it's in focus or has proper exposure. That's what AUTO is supposed to do and it sure doesn't handle...

    Overexposed Video

Hey guys... Generally my video is very good but now and again it's totally overexposed. I had everything set to Auto. White balance, exposure, focus, everthing. I thought it looked overexposed on my cell but when I got home my fears were confirmed and the video was more or less wrecked...

    Airport lost my drone!!!

Almost as if posting on a drone forum while you are jetting around the world is a low priority! :). Thanks for letting us know.

    Airport lost my drone!!!

If you want to track a bag you need something with an active signal or something that can tie in to the cell network. Those Tile things might work but I wouldn't count on them. Bluetooth is way too limited. I have a little gizmo called a RF-V16. You can get them on Ebay for about $20...

    Arrested

Have you heard about “the talk” that black fathers have with sons? Not the birds and bees talk. The talk about surviving an encounter with cops. It’s time for drone owners to get a serious talk. We are far less likely to be shot but if you don’t cooperate with cops and do exactly what they...

    Woops!

I just had a close call. The drone was quite a distance away (but within sight). I didn't see anything on my phone screen because the sun was so bright but my poor little guy was heading towards some power lines that were in a very unexpected place. And were nearly invisible. The power lines...

Canadians: June 1's comin! - Got your Pilot's License Yet?

Lol... way ahead of you! No chance I'm going to spend a winter in Canada. I've got a really nice little place in Arizona. Love it. What a beautiful state by the way. Lots to see and do.

    128GB Card?

exFat isn't displayed as an option on my computer for a 128GB drive. It' shows up for smaller drives. I'm running Windows 10 Pro. I haven't tried exFat on the Mavic so I can't confirm that it works - perhaps you have? From what I can see the Mavic is designed to work with Fat32.

    128GB Card?

A few errors there. 1) You can't format a large card (128GB) on Windows 10 in Fat32 - Partly TRUE - Windows can't do it on it's own - you need to use a 3rd party utility like the one I linked to above 2) You can only write 4GB on a Fat32 drive - FALSE - You can fill the...

    128GB Card?

Fat32 does have a 4GB file size limit but your drone video probably isn't going over that limit anyway. If it does, the DJI software will cut the file at 4GB and start a new file regardless of the file system you are using. So there's really no reason to use exFat over Fat32. I've tested...
