Try using an official apple/android cable connected to the USB port on the bottom. I get what you describe all the time when in low signal areas. It seems the cellular interferes with the thin cable that connects my phone

Take off the props, throw it directly up and while in free fall, try to start the motors. Grab it when it falls regarsless

My only problem with this is that the mavic is highly portable, and the times when I'll need a pad is when the ground is uneven or unpredictable, I.e. When not at home. I'm trying to come up with a solution that is portable, but also rigid when extended and collapses to something small for...
