If you're using a filter on the camera make sure it flush with the center ring (gold) on the camera body. Being off by as little as a 1/16" can cause the gimbal to go crazy.
One thing I found was that it only happened when I had filters attached. Come to find out I wasn't pushing them on flush with the lens. That tiny 1/8" offset of the filter caused my gimbal to do multiple resets. Take a look at this youtube video.
I'm east of Richmond in New Kent county. Plenty of open spaces but most are still privately owned. I frequent Diascund reservoir in Lanexa just off of Rt 60. Very few people or houses. Just don't bother those that are fishing.
