    CrystalSky charging over USB-C?

No USB-C charger that I've tried, including the 87w USB charger from a 2016 MBP, have worked to charge the CrystalSky 5.5 battery. It will power the CS without the external battery, but it won't charge the battery.

The Things You Do NOT Get With The Crystalsky......

That's a great idea, and in retrospect, it's what I should have done. Wish it had occurred to me at the time. I ended up ordering a 2nd CS battery since I figured I'd want one eventually anyway and it's unlikely I'd burn through two on a trip.

The Things You Do NOT Get With The Crystalsky......

I don't have a single charger that can charge both the Mavic and CS, and I'm not aware that one exists yet. So on a longer trip, I need to carry another charger and the dock for the CS. If the CS could charge over USB, then that would work well enough for me, and I wouldn't need to carry the...

The Things You Do NOT Get With The Crystalsky......

That's fine and I get it, but I wish it had charging over USB-C as an option, even if it took significantly longer. At least then I could charge via an external battery pack, or let it charge overnight in a hotel.

The Things You Do NOT Get With The Crystalsky......

I'm in the CS 5.5 + Mavic camp, not because I wanted to spend the money or carry another device, I just didn't have anything else that was bright enough or reliable enough to use how I wanted. I started with an iPad Mini 2 and iPhone 5S, but they were difficult to see outdoors and it often had...

    CrystalSky Charger

There's a USB port on the front of the CS battery dock that should be able to charge the RC as well.

    CrystalSky Charger

My CS and charger should be here tomorrow. That charger looks better than the one I found. Darn :( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01700Z3QS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Hello from Raleigh, NC

Wow, great info everyone, thanks! Yeah, I'm around the Fuquay, Holly Springs, Apex mashup area. I'll definitely try to hit up some of those locations and see what's up. Was also considering Yates Mill. Have done some photography there but not sure how good it would be for flying.

    Hello from Raleigh, NC

I'm actually about 20 minutes south of downtown Raleigh, myself. Let me know if you have some recommendations where to fly. I've only been to Dorothea Dix Park so far.

    Hello from Raleigh, NC

Checking in from the Raleigh area. Preordered a Spark as my first real drone and really liked it, but wasn't thrilled with the video quality and uncertainty around the OTG cable support. A few weeks later I got a Mavic and love it, so here I am.

    CrystalSky charging over USB-C?

Appreciate the explanation. That's an unfortunate limitation. I'll hold off on the CS until there's a solution that works with the Mavic charger. Thanks!

    CrystalSky charging over USB-C?

Thanks for the info. So you've tried it and it doesn't work? It shouldn't be the cable itself that's a limiting factor, as (some) USB-C cables can carry up to 100W. I was wondering if, provided a sufficient cable and power source, it would charge over USB-C. I've read that the CS 5.5 could...
