It is possible and quite easy to put the Mavic in ATTI mode and you can find videos on line showing people doing flips and things (that I think would be bad for the Mavic gimbal). But can't post the info here... Just search around if you need to do this...
There have been a few posts about this. I had this problem and took the Mavic back to the Shenzhen, China repair centre. They told me it was a manufacturing problem and they very quickly replaced the camera for me at no cost.
Thanks so much for your analytics @BudWalker I think DJI should give you a job if your not working for them already. I agree with both your findings, I'm now going to try the new .0700 firmware that came out yesterday but will avoid locations like that arch unless someone braver than me confirms...
I also experienced the toilet bowling problem switching between GPS and ATTI mid flight for the first time after over 100 successful flights yesterday. I was flying around a large natural stone arch. I would take off inside the arch with no gps and slowly fly outside the arch low to the ground...
I have been having this problem with fog on the inside of the lens. I just took the mavic to the China Shenzhen repair centre and they said it's a known manufacturing fault. They will replace the mavic at no cost here in China. So maybe the best thing is just to take it back to DJI.
I have been using Dark Table: www.darktable.org for mavic dng's, but I'm still refining the workflow and have some problems with white balance of imported images that I don't have from my Canon or Sony raw files.
