We have probably all heard of a ghost train but here is a twist:
A ghost station!
Just over Sir Lowry's pass from Somerset West to Grabouw and Elgin, right beside the Steenbras dam and the N2, where the railway line goes under the road there was a railway station years ago.
The railway line is still in use, mainly for the odd goods train to Riversdal and onward.
The story goes that this little station is haunted. The station building is long gone but the floor remains, the stationmaster, cleverly disguised as a bush, stands a solitary vigil.
Beside the track is the remains of a roofless building, painted white to act as camouflage for the resident spook.
From a distance the Mini2, slightly shivering with fear, took a look at this sceptical spectral spectacle.
