DJI will not put waypoints on the smaller cheaper models for many reasons but mostly I suspect, because there isn't enough processing power in those models to run waypoints along with all the other systems.

Because the lack of that kind of feature on a $500 entry level device is a lot more understandable than on the $2000 flagship.

Actually, you can. Buy Litchi, program your waypoints on your tablet or desktop computer using Litchi Hub and Google Earth, and you will have ‘your way‘ with waypoints!

It's just not important to me and the missions I fly. I actually like flying it with stick inputs.
Any drone that can do return-to-home can do waypoint missions. Imagine buying a GPS-enabled drone and finding that it didn't do return-to-home. That's how at least a few of us felt after buying a Mini 1 and finding that DJI didn't think we paid enough to deserve waypoints.
RTH is a completely different animal than waypoints. It's a hard programmed single function as opposed to a stored multifunction task that requires memory and processing power to achieve.
RTH requires the ability to autonomously navigate to given GPS coordinates at a given altitude and speed, then initiate a landing operation. Waypoints simply require a list of points to navigate to sequentially, plus some stored heading or camera commands, and the memory required would be a few kilobytes, which is why virtually all GPS-enable drones support waypoints. (Someone claimed that Hubsan makes one that does RTH but not waypoints, but if so, that's very rare.)
Unless it is virtual sticks (which is stored in the device used for flying, NOT THE DRONE ITSELF), none of the other DJI drones using the FLY app with the exception of the Mavic 3, 3Cinema or 3 Classic, have native waypoints so it's not as rare as you think. Virtual sticks requires DJI release an SDK for the specific model to enable that capability via 3rd party suppliers and the device you are using to fly.
Well, yes, of course I meant all GPS drones before the Mini 1 and all non-DJI drones since then -- DJI is the only manufacturer trying to make it a premium feature, and only since the Mini 1. But anyway, you're ignoring that the Mini 3 Pro does support waypoints, but only for the hyperlapse mode, so memory/processor is obviously not a valid excuse.

A potato from 10 years ago could run waypoints, there is no such thing as a hardware limitation in any of DJI's aircraft. Presence of the feature or not is purely driven by commercial strategy.

Someone in another topic/thread made a valid point ... saying something to the effect of "the rich/part 107 pilots" that can afford the expensive drones " just doesn't want us "poor hobbyists" to "invade" their " territory "...
and what's "funny", lot of those same "rich(er)" people complains in topics about some of the FAA rules,
saying words to the effect of ...
"some of these rules coming from the FAA are just to protect airspace for the new DELIVERY companies" (eg:. Amazon etc...)
For the "price" of DJI drones, one shouldn't have to "depend" on a third-party to do this,
