REGISTRATION

Why all the confusion?

This law firm won a case stating that the FAA's drone registration was illegal.

But then the CONgress redacted it with the NDAA bill saying that it was reenacted in full force. Wasn't NDAA the bill under Obama that said they could round us up for no reason (which is another case that could possibly be won by this legal firm on the same grounds)?

No. The problem with the original registration program was that the FAA exceeded their authority as granted by Congress. Congress then passed a new law specifically granting the FAA authority to register drones. There are no serious grounds to challenge the current registration program.

They keep moving the decimal point around.

ADU 0707: What does the National Defense Authorization Act mean for pilots? - Drone U™

It was 5.5 lbs or heavier originally which would make the mavic pro free and clear (which ... ), but now .55 lbs or heavier and under 55 lbs.

Not sure what ADU is talking about, because the old registration rule also applied to drones 0.55 lbs and up as well: Press Release – FAA Announces Small UAS Registration Rule
Ok...looking at it again...if you have ANY plans to use the drone for part 107, because you've got the part 107 certification, ANY size drone must be registered. So it doesn't matter that you have a Mavic mini, under the .55lbs, if you're using it for part 107 operations, it has to be registered even though you won't be using it for part 107 all the time. The legislation that now authorizes the FAA to do what they were already doing is 2400 pages long that none of our representatives even bothered to read before it passed. The .55 lbs is just a gimmick so that the local grocery store can sell toy quads that end up in the trashcan.

The Mavic wasn't quite in their vision when they drafted the legislation, and the mav somewhat is above the legislative standard. The legislation however errs on the side that everything can and will go wrong even on a delicate instrument such as the Mavic. But not all drones are Mavic quality, so hence still a problem.

Wonder what's wrong with the old 'if found please call'.

Hmm...nope...too simple...not enough red tape...

I today's news...a drone crashed into a tree...

FAA was puzzled, but finally came up with an answer...it happens...
