Tatoi is located 15 km north of the center of Athens.
On the estate is the summer palace of the former Greek royal family, in one of the most beautiful forests of Attica at the foot of Parnitha.
In 1871, at the urging of Ernest Ziller, King George I bought the estate, with a total area of 20,000 acres.
The new house was first inhabited by George in 1889, immediately after the marriage of Successor Constantine, who was allowed to use the old house.
In 1924, with the proclamation of the Second Hellenic Republic, all royal property (public and private) was confiscated in favor of the Greek State.
