No it just cuts your wireless service to your cell provider, so no live map data unless you cache maps before turning on airplane mode. Your Mavic is controlled through the RC signal, your phone is just a data center for the drone. You should put it in airplane mode right before you take off...

Not insured. Did not realize I could get Dji Care until it was past 48hrs.

Updated today, no problems with 4 batteries. Only thing different I noticed was the place I fly in used to say Class D but that did not show up this time.

I would recommend cleaning and calibrating the VPS sensors.

Looks like an easy drone for the selfie world, no need for traditional editing, just throw it on instagram and apply a filter.

msinger you put out a lot of good information, it would be nice if they would make "stickies" of these common questions and information or how to's.

Wouldn't think that the app crashing would cause RTH. only the controller disconnecting.

If your worried about reviewing Video or pictures, you can use the Play Button in Dji go app to review and/or delete the files directly on the sd card.

It may be a symptom of not calibrating it on a level surface.
