  • What do you say about 1.5w boost and the amp boost improvements ? Does the amp boost worth it even in high congested city area ? If i don't have direct LOS of AC i won't get any improvement with the amps ?
I'am attempted to buy an cheap nice deal Evolite kit ( only 180 bucks ) I found here in the market but the dealbreaker here is the portability. I would like to trade it for at least 2 more kilometers (50% improvement) in range. I usually don't fly LOS but still getting 3km stock. Would like to reach 5km.
Hello CyberNate. I followed all your posts on the NanoSync antenna thread. I read that you recently rather to use 1.5w Boost mode than Amp boost ?
Do you live in an FCC region ?

I live in Brazil that's CE region. I tried to use 1.5w Boost mode but didn't get any impressive increase. I believe it was more less interference warnings than range improvement. It wasn't conclusive.
Wow that's a lot of gps/compasses that went out... ... Geeez it's making worried... ... And there not çhèép too...

Well, I got the Mavic that way. It was a crashed one and it was probably bad out of the factory. The other 2 went bad likely due to heat. They got progressively worse. i used to fly it hard with super sport mode and extra batteries.

I've had 5 mavics and covered several thousand miles. They are reliable overall.
My coworker said deguassing a ic chip won't n wouldn't do anything. More temperature & over voltage would cause a chip to fail. Normal lithium cells rate at 3.7 volts & when there fully charge they jump to 4.2 volts. Ï researched the u-blox gps chips (that's in the gps/compass module) voltage threshold is 2.7-3.6 volts. So prolly is the compass chip threshold.

Mailed it. About 5 days to get there.
Ü can just mail it in a regular padded envelop n put stamps... Nö need for special box gonna do surgery on it anyway... Saves u the time n effort... Thx

Thanks, will try to get that out tonight.

Keep in mind, I did try degaussing it after failure. I hope that doesn't taint your troubleshooting. Didn't help.

Sorry, haven't sent it yet. I will send you 2 bad modules. I forgot I have another that came bad with a drone. It's different. The compass gives bad data, causing drone to yaw left in a uncontrolled manner.
Can i buy it from u then..? Shame asking people for things... I'll buy it for $20 for ur time n effort... I live on Maui, Hawaii... I'll pay u thrü PayPal...

No charge for that. I have 2 burned out compasses. I'm giving you the one that has broken wires. I'll keep the other, as it still works as GPS only. I flew 100 flights with burned out rear compass. It shows disconnected and just uses the front compass.

No cost other than shipping for you.
ÇÿbërNätë... Do u have the failed gps\compass modules by any chance yet..? If u do u would sell it..? I have a coworker that designed military components back then that wouldnt mind diagnosing it cause i don't want mine failing on me in the aire... We're trying to prevent it from failing but we need to see fïrst if it's hardware or over voltage...

Probably was due to heat. My mavic is modded with extra batteries. I push it hard at times and the ESC temperatures can exceed 90C. The heat will collect at the top shell which is not vented. Anyway, a complete compass failure is not a big deal because there is a second compass in the front that takes over. The problem is if the rear compass acts erratically but not enough to trigger switch over to front compass.

I have a bad compass if you want for free, but that one has broken wires from repeatedly removing top shell.
ÇÿbërNätë... Could u see anything physically wrong with ur Gps\Compass when u replaced urs twice..? Jüs curious...

No. I simply started seeing more and more compass errors and finally the compass showed "disconnected" when checking the status. Eventually the compass was turned off completely and Mavic switched over to the front compass. It actually flies fine that way and I did for probably 100 flights. It's actually worse if the compass works intermittently giving bad readings.
